A new casual restaurant with fine dining influences is set to shake up Salem’s dining scene.
According to an announcement from Chef Mike Denk, Boston Hot Dog Company will soon cease operations at 60 Washington St, making way for his latest venture, Au Gratin.
Denk announced the transition in a recent Facebook post, stating:
Prior to purchasing Boston Hot Dog in 2020, I, Chef Mike Denk, worked hard for 10 years in the upscale fine dining scenes of Chicago, New York, and Boston. I am ready to bring my expertise in classically trained French techniques to a casual setting. Get ready to enjoy the best Paninis and Mac & Cheeses you’ve ever had! I am also committed to providing healthy/plant-based options of favorite comfort foods.
Operating as a pop-up eatery within Boston Hot Dog Company for the past year, Au Gratin has delighted patrons with breakfast favorites like baked French toast, egg paninis, and Greek parfaits.
Boston Hot Dog Company will officially close its doors after Memorial Day, with renovations slated to take place shortly after that. In addition to its plant-based offerings, patrons of Au Gratin can expect a scratch-made menu celebrating a passion for cheese, alongside an upgraded kitchen and cozy seating arrangements.
Denk told What Now Boston that more details should be available sometime next week. For the latest updates, follow the forthcoming eatery on Facebook and Instagram, and get ready to savor a new era of cheesy delights at Au Gratin.
