A local baker is set to launch her first physical storefront.
Marissa Ferola, the brain behind Nine Winters Bakery, is planning a brick-and-mortar location at 292 Concord Ave in West Cambridge.
Inspired by her Korean roots, Ferola began sharing her unique desserts on social media during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. She eventually expanded to pop-ups at Honeycomb Creamery in Cambridge and Bow Market in Somerville.
Ferola told What Now Boston that Nine Winters will feature the same popular pastries from the pop-ups, alongside a robust Korean-inspired coffee program that experiments with brewing methods and aeration.
Patrons can look forward to an array of Korean-American treats, including the best-selling black sesame chocolate chip cookies, kkwabaegi (twisted Korean donuts), gochujang spice cake, peanut butter chili crisp cookies, and spicy gochujang caramel sticky buns.
The bakery will also offer light plates for lunch and dinner, while partnering with local chefs—particularly those from BIPOC and AANHPI communities—to host pop-up dinner series in the intimate dining room.
“Nine Winters is above all a third space dedicated to our identity as Korean-Americans, with an intentional environment for exploration of culture and self,” Ferola explained.
The bakery is slated to open in the spring of 2025. For updates and sneak peeks, follow Nine Winters on Instagram, @ninewintersma.
