Navy Yard foodies will soon be able to enjoy some of the DMV-region’s finest tacos. Taqueria Xochi, the beloved U Street Mexican concept, is bringing its delicious cuisine to the Boilermaker Shops later this year, reports the Washington Business Journal.
The concept’s ownership has signed a lease for a 2,500 square foot space at 300 Tingey Street, SE. Taqueria Xochi, the passion project of founders Teresa Padilla and Geraldine Mendoza, is aiming to begin greeting customers this summer.
Taqueria Xochi’s Navy Yard location will be the restaurant’s biggest to date. Additionally, it will have a bar and the space and capacity to produce the brand’s signature tortillas for all locations.
The eatery currently has locations on U Street and at the Square. Fans of Taqueria Xochi’s authentic and freshly made dishes have expressed a desire for a location nearer Nationals Park. The restaurant is will be joining a vibrant dining community, one where owner Geraldine Mendoza is certain Taqueria Xochi will make its mark. She states: ““People love our food, and there’s room for everyone.”
