A Boston-based chain is preparing to bring a fresh vegetarian option to the District. Life Alive Organic Cafe is opening its first DC location later this year, reports the Washington Business Journal.

The fast-casual concept is moving into a 3,200 square foot space at 2301 M Street NW. The building, which previously housed a Soul Cycle, will provide indoor seating for up to 70 customers. Life Alive will feature al fresco patio accommodations for up to twelve visitors.

The restaurant is hoping to open by December. CEO Bryan Timkins believes the cafe will scratch an itch for District diners, stating: “There’s definitely a lot of demand for healthy food options, and I think D.C. is really going to value what we bring in the food space, which is about organic food that tastes as great as it makes you feel.”

Life Alive crafts all of its dishes fresh daily. Guests can order from a menu featuring grain bowls, salads, wraps, noodles, soups, acai bowls, and smoothies. The DC location will debut java from Intelligentsia Coffee. The eatery will be open daily from 7 am to 9 pm.
