A West Coast seafood favorite is preparing to bring a taste of the Sunshine State to the DMV. California Fish Grill is plotting locations for DC, Virginia, and Maryland, reports local media outlet Taste DMV.
No specific spots have yet been selected in Virginia or DC. The concept doesn’t currently have any East Coast presence, and is making moves towards making its regional debut in Maryland. There is no clear timeline for California Fish Grill’s DMV arrival, however the company has signed a lease for a Rockville location and is pursuing storefronts in Virginia and the District.
California Fish Grill has distinguished itself from other seafood restaurants by serving fresh, sustainably attained fish. The restaurant was founded in 1998 in Gardena, California. Its cuisine uses superior ingredients, attained from fisheries and farms with Best Choice or Good Alternative designations from the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program. The concept also selects fish that are Eco-Certified by third party organizations.
