Rockville diners will soon be getting a taste of the West coast. California Fish Grill has signed a lease to bring its signature seafood to Towne Plaza, reports local media outlet Taste DMV.

The chain will be opening at 12238 Rockville Plaza in a building that previously housed a Five Guys. While a precise opening date is not currently available, California Fish Grill is aiming to open what will be its first East Coast location in June of 2025.

California Fish Grill served its first customers in Gardena, California, in 1998. The concept has expanded to include 58 restaurants, with the lion’s share located, predictably, in California. However, the chain has hopes for expansion, which the Rockville location will greatly abet in.

As the name suggests, California Fish Grill’s menu focuses heavily on seafood. What sets the cuisine apart is the brand’s insistence on high-quality ingredients. The company’s website describes the fare, stating: “We only serve wild-caught and farm-raised seafood that is rated Best Choice or Good Alternative by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch® program or Eco-Certified by a third party.”
