Formerly known as Stink, the restaurant located at 628 St Helens Ave in Tacoma is set to undergo a transformation under new ownership creating its new persona Blue Rose Bar, according to recent permit filings.

A representative of Stink or Blue Rose Bar did not immediately return What Now Seattle’s request for comment.

While the specifics of the reimagined concept have yet to be confirmed for Blue Rose Bar, under its previous incarnation as Stink, the restaurant gained a reputation as the “aroma of Tacoma,” priding itself on using the freshest ingredients to provide a delightful culinary experience accompanied by exceptional service. The name of Stink was referenced to be a good aroma, hence the “aroma of Tacoma”, well known for mac-n-cheese options, grilled cheese, and fresh salads to name a few. Stink’s viewpoint was relayed as a connection to European ideology, stating they have always treated wine and beer as food, for centuries understanding the relationship between good food and drink that goes beyond satisfying hunger – it facilitates passion, according to their website. At night was the transition to El Tufo, translating to “stink” in Spanish, with offerings of small international plates and an extensive wine list for patrons to enjoy.
