HalfSeas Wine + Bottle Shop emerges as more than just a purveyor of fine wines—it’s a celebration of the artistry of viticulture, the serenity of the ocean’s embrace, and the joy of shared moments around the table. The name, derived from an English songbook’s charming ode to the pleasures of gentle inebriation, reflects the essence of balance and conviviality that defines this unique establishment.

At HalfSeas, the story begins with a profound connection between wine and the ocean. Just as vineyards bask in the coastal sunlight, producing grapes that hold the essence of the sea’s touch, so too do ships brave the tumultuous waters to deliver the liquid pleasures that grace our glasses during cherished gatherings. The bond between these two realms is celebrated here, where every pour is an invitation to revel in togetherness, savor delight, and embrace the sweet spot of being “half-seas” tipsy.

Steering this venture is Seattle local Jen Doak, a veteran of the wine and hospitality industries. With over two decades of experience, Jen’s journey through the world of wine began with the Washington Wine Commission and meandered through respected establishments like Esquin Wine Merchants and Pike & Western Wine Shop. Her passion for sharing exceptional food and wine materialized in the form of Brimmer & Heeltap, a testament to her commitment to creating memorable experiences.

Joining the HalfSeas journey is Natalie Rohde, the tech-savvy voice behind marketing, strategy, and operations. With a penchant for penning sometimes-snarky club-tasting notes, Natalie is dedicated to demystifying wine and making it approachable for all. Her mantra: wine should be delicious, never stuffy. Armed with a deep appreciation for the human stories woven into each bottle, Natalie’s quest for the enchanting narratives behind every sip knows no bounds, according to the company website.
