According to a recent permit filing, Seattle Harbor Restaurant has filed for a China Harbor Marina location at 2040 Westlake Avenue N #28.

Seattle Harbor Restaurant has requested permission to have a spirits, beer, and wine rest lounge under Seattle Harbor LLC. Behind the liquor license and the LLC is Lie Fan Zhao.

According to an Instagram post from Vanishing Seattle, “After 30 years, China Harbor at 2040 Westlake Ave N will close on Sept 29, 2024. Its owners cite multiple factors in closing, including struggling to recover after the pandemic, inflation, a labor shortage & (since fixed) structural issues with the building that caused a closure in 2021.”

“China Harbor’s hulking mysterious rectangular black building with its glowing red neon & big circular moon door made it an iconic presence along West Lake. According to Seattle Met, the building was constructed in 1961 & was home to the Seattle Elks Club.”

“In 1976, the Elks moved to the basement & the upstairs became a series of restaurants: West Veranda, Don the Beachcomber tiki bar, Greenjeans, Greenstreets, Ostería Mitchelli, Hunan Harbor, and China Harbor in 1994.”
