Home Run Dugout, “a high-tech indoor social baseball experience” plus full-service restaurant and indoor-outdoor sports bar, recently opened a development near Houston. Now, the business seems to be looking west.
“We are already looking in San Antonio,” co-founder Tyler Bambrick recently tells the San Antonio Business Journal, adding that the sports and entertainment operator Ryan Sanders Baseball — a financier of Home Run Dugout’s Dell Diamond venue — has “ties to the Alamo City.”
For readers who are unfamiliar with the concept — whose investors include the likes of former professional baseball pitcher Nolan Ryan — Home Run Dugout strives to “put a bat back in people’s hands and create a very social experience around the sport of baseball or softball,” says Bambrick.
The venues offer simulated hitting bays that employ “proprietary ground-up pitching technology” and augmented reality to make patrons feel as if they are batting in their MLB stadium of choice. Once they’ve taken their swing, players can digitally track the ball’s movement. Additionally, visitors can find a backyard mini-field made for whiffle ball games.
Bambrick tells the Business Journal, “It’s a complicated business, but we have the team to execute it and we are going to continue to grow it.”
