Drew Deckman continues to expand his presence throughout San Diego, this time working on a new seafood-focused restaurant at 100 Park Blvd in Petco Park Downtown.

The new restaurant, tentatively named Ballast Point Baja Draft by Deckman’s, is set to move into the current home of Ballast Point, according to San Diego Magazine. This concept is expected to be open around the start of the 2025 baseball season, which is scheduled to kick off on March 27 against the Atlanta Braves, although an exact opening date has yet to be announced. This is a massive accomplishment for Deckman, marking the Michelin-starred chef’s second restaurant in the city, following 31ThirtyOne, which opened in North Park in August 2024. Deckman initially wanted to be an umpire before falling in love with the culinary arts and has partnered with Padres All-Star pitcher Joe Musgrove in previous projects.

A fresh take on coastal cuisine, the menu so far offers a vibrant selection of oysters, ceviches, and Baja-inspired plates. Highlights include six oysters on the half-shell served with cilantro cocktail sauce and a choice of fiery roasted oysters with guajillo chile butter or refreshing shrimp ceviche. For various tastes, ceviches range from Zero By-Catch shrimp with traditional flavors to a green market fish ceviche spiced with tomatillo and habanero. Signature Baja-style tacos, fried oyster tortas, and the indulgent “Dirty” Baja fries with shrimp ceviche will also be on the menu. With an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients, this restaurant promises an unforgettable dining experience.

The new concept will add coastal flavors to the baseball park’s impressive culinary lineup. Petco offers a variety of food and drinks, including Hodad’s burgers, Puesto tacos, and spicy Hot Hen chicken sandwiches. Fans can enjoy ceviches, oysters, and craft beers from local breweries like Ballast Point and AleSmith. Other popular spots include Gelati & Peccati for Roman-style pizza, San Diego’s Finest Hot Chicken, and Seaside Market for fresh salads and gluten-free options. For dessert, there are gelato and vegan sorbet options.
