On April 1, Santana Row will welcome Parranga, a new Mexico City taqueria from the creators of Suspiro, Zazil, El Jardin, Il Parco, and Colibri. As the fourth Santana Row location from Buen Rallo Group, Parranga is set to offer a refined yet casual dining experience, serving up authentic street tacos and specialties that capture the simplicity and richness of Mexico’s vibrant culinary culture. With handmade tortillas, a diverse selection of house-made salsas, and an enticing $12 draft cocktail menu, Parranga is the perfect spot for locals, food lovers, and visitors alike to enjoy a taste of Mexico in the heart of San Jose.
To celebrate its grand opening, Parranga is offering a special treat for the first 200 guests on opening day—a free taco! Don’t miss the chance to be among the first to experience this new taqueria and enjoy a delicious taco on the house.
“Parranga is about bringing an incredibly traditional, Mexico City-style taqueria experience to Santana Row. We believe that great food should be fresh, accessible, and, above all, authentic—and that’s exactly what we’re offering,” said Eduardo Rallo, Chairman and Founder of Buen Rallo Group in a statement. “We’re also thrilled to continue investing in this dynamic community with our fourth concept here, and we’re excited for everyone to experience it.”
At Parranga, authenticity takes center stage. Whether you crave the smoky depth of carne asada, the sweet savory combo of al pastor with grilled pineapple, or the tenderness of barbacoa, Parranga can deliver. Vegetarian options like hongos y elote (mushrooms and corn) and papas y soy chorizo (potatoes and spicy soy sausage) ensure that all patrons can leave satisfied.
Parranga is also offering a breakfast menu, making it a great morning dining option for the area. Opening daily at 8:00 AM, the taqueria will serve breakfast tacos and burritos featuring Huevos a la Mexicana, Chorizo, and Carne Asada. These hearty morning offerings will be available until lunch, when the full menu opens up. In addition, Parranga will have a variety of house-made salsas available, ranging from a mild Mango Pico de Gallo to an extra spicy Verde Cremosa.
Complementing the tacos are sides such as cebollas preparadas (marinated onions), guacamole y chips, and frijoles charros (hearty pinto beans with chorizo and bacon). Those craving something different can enjoy the papa rellena, a baked potato loaded with butter, cheese, bacon, and sour cream. To round out the meal, cool off with soft serve ice cream, topped with unique Mexican-inspired ingredients like churro crumbs, cajeta with walnuts, or pasilla caramelized popcorn.
To drink, Parranga offers a selection of Mexican beers and refreshing, affordably priced draft cocktails at just $12—one of the best deals on Santana Row. Options include the classic margarita, a margarita picante infused with jalapeño cucumber, and the floral hibiscus mule. Guests can also enjoy aguas frescas with fresh seasonal flavors and classic Mexican sodas like Jarritos and Coca-Cola Mexicana.
Parranga will operate as an order-at-the-counter concept, offering a casual yet authentic dining experience reminiscent of Mexico City’s taquerias, but with a refined touch. The space is designed to embrace an open and inviting atmosphere, featuring both indoor and outdoor seating with large sliding doors that seamlessly connect the two areas.
Parranga will officially open to the public on April 1 and will be open daily from 8 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. and till 12 a.m. on weekends. For the latest updates, follow Parranga on Instagram (@parranga.sj) and visit parranga.com.
