Columbus bagel spot The Lox Bagel Shop, located at 772 N High St, announced on its Instagram account that guests could expect something new from the team: a monthly smashburger pop-up concept. For one day each month, the breakfast and lunch joint will offer evening hours, during which time it will switch from serving its bagel sandwiches to offering a menu of smashburgers, wings, milkshakes and cocktails. Guests can find classic smashburgers each month during the pop-up, along with a rotating burger called “The Funky Duck” which is also the name of the monthly event.

What Now Columbus spoke with Lauren Himes, managing partner with The Lox Bagel Shop, who shared some details about the menu. Since few things can hit the spot like a good burger, Himes said there will always be an option to order a classic smashburger, along with a spicy and vegetarian option, plus the monthly speciality burger that rotates depending on what the team is able to source, but guests can expect the selection to be mouthwateringly “funky.”

“There will be a few changes each month, but we’ll always be consistent with a classic smash, along with Dante’s Inferno, veggie burger and the monthly Funky Duck,” Himes said of the menu selections.

Additionally, Himes said there are smoked wings on the menu, along with two rotating milkshake flavors – available served with alcohol for boozy shake fans – plus beer and cocktails.

Although the concept only launched earlier this month, Himes said the Columbus food community has rallied behind the pop-up and the team reached maximum capacity for their first event shortly after announcing it. Each month when the pop-up event date is announced on Instagram, guests are encouraged to give the team a headcount by email, but the team will also take walk-in orders until the menu is sold out.

And for those guests who love a good meal and a little swag, there’s even The Funky Duck apparel. Guests can purchase t-shirts during the pop-up event, and Himes said there will be holiday season themed shirts and sweatshirts available as well.
