A young entrepreneur is stepping into a new chapter.

What started out as a hobby has turned into a business for Roderick Thomas, who is opening a new apparel and footwear store in Atlanta called Identity ATL. The shop aims to be a go-to spot for sought-after streetwear and bags, including vintage finds.

Thomas, who is also a musician, graduated from Clemson University in 2020 with a computer engineering degree. His love for shoes goes back even further.

“Since I was around 15 or 16, I was into shoes,” he said.

When he started selling footwear, he realized he could make a gig out of it.

“I started there, initially with shoes, then started getting into clothes and bags and designer stuff as well,” he said. “It was a side hustle at first that turned into the main thing where everybody was looking at what I wear, how I dress, asking where I get stuff from.”

Thomas describes his own style as experimental, but not too crazy. He enjoys rare, unique finds, which is what customers will be able to find at Identity ATL.

The store will be located at 131 Walker Street SW, just south of Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It will hopefully be open by the end of February.

Overall, Thomas’ vision for Identity ATL is for it to be “a friendly environment for people to come and gain style knowledge and knowledge about the fashion scene and what’s going on.”
