NFA Burger, which was named “best burger in Georgia” last year by Food & Wine magazine, will expand its restaurant space in Dunwoody.

NFA Burger owner Billy Kramer recently filed for the expansion with the city of Dunwoody, according to an announcement. Eater Atlanta first reported the news.

The project will construct a new 600-square-foot building for the burger joint beside the Chevron gas station where it now operates at 5465 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd. NFA Burger had opened inside the gas station in 2019 after gaining a following through pop-up events.

“We always knew that if things went well inside the gas station, that we would need to expand operations,” Kramer said in a phone interview on Friday. “I have a very great relationship with my landlord. We started discussing this last year.”

The new restaurant space will allow Kramer to expand his menu, including a smoked chicken sandwich in collaboration with Robert Owens of Grand Champion BBQ, as well as milkshakes and drinks. He will also increase the hours of operation.

Kramer said the new restaurant could open in about six months.
