The owners of MJQ Concourse could be close to finding a new home.

Ryan Murphy and Ryan Purcell on Friday announced on Instagram that MJQ would close its spot at 736 Ponce De Leon Avenue after almost 25 years in business.

“We are here to clear up all the rumors and announce that 2023 will be MJQ’s last year at this location,” said the Instagram post. “No we are not closing our doors, but we will relocate to another space … that announcement is soon to come.”

In a text to What Now Atlanta on Monday, Purcell said that “we already have an LOI [letter of intent] for a location and will announce once we have signed a lease.”

Purcell declined to offer any additional information.

Developer Portman Holdings plans redevelop the block along Ponce where MJQ is currently located, along with property that once housed Paris on Ponce.

Portman just filed two applications in Atlanta to begin the permitting process.

The west parcel along the Atlanta BeltLine’s Eastside Trail (the Paris on Ponce building) would become a 310,000-square-foot office building and 13,000 square feet of retail space.

The east parcel (where MJQ is located) would become a 160,000-square-foot office building with 12,000 square feet of retail space, along with a 354-unit residential building with 13,000 square feet of retail space.

MJQ says it plans a New Year’s Eve party for “The Final Countdown at 736 Ponce De Leon as we bring in the new year, visit some of the oldies from the past, celebrate 25 years of partying and prepare for the next chapter in Atlanta’s nightlife.”
