Tucker restaurant Blue Ribbon Grill will be closing its doors, but the owners are seeking a new location.
The restaurant at 4006 Lavista Road is set to close on Feb. 25, 2024, Decaturish.com reports. It is located in the Briarcliff La Vista shopping center.
Blue Ribbon Grill has been around since 1985. Jennifer and Eric Greene became the owners three years ago. The restaurant serves American comfort food, from burgers and sandwiches to meatloaf and mashed potatoes.
Jennifer Greene told What Now Atlanta they are currently seeking a new location. They hope to stay in Tucker, but the new site is not finalized yet.
The owners cited rising rent as a reason for choosing not to renew their lease at the current space. A GoFundMe was launched to help the business with costs of relocating and paying staff.
Donations to the online fundraiser have since been stopped, with an update posted on Feb. 12: “Our business relocation is going to take some time. I have put in a request to Gofundme for all money donated to be refunded. We really appreciate those of you that donated, and we hope to be updating the public more later on about what is going on with Blue Ribbon Grill.”
A job posting was made on Jan. 22, 2024, seeking a marketing and social media intern for Blue Ribbon Grill. Applications are no longer being accepted.
Blue Ribbon Grill was formerly owned by Atlanta talk radio legend Bob Hanson, better known as Ludlow Porch.
The departure of Blue Ribbon Grill will leave quite a “hole” in the Tucker area. I sincerely hope they consider a move to Lilburn. We need more independent, casual restaurants which offer a “one-off” experience that chains cannot.
There is a great space where Folks was next to I-hop on La Vista and Northlake Parkway, great parking, good location! Why not try it!!! And stay in Tucker!!!!!
At some point it was owned by a man named Paul, a former Marine, he was always at the front door as guest arrived. He was true friend and I had dined there dozens of times as well as hosted BAPCO graduating classes there. As a BAPCO trainer that was a favorite go to place for lunch. Oh the days gone by where The Blue Ribbon Grill has cold beer and the best steaks, great memories.
