A local nonprofit organization is seeking a new headquarters northeast of Atlanta.

Wellroot Family Services is planning to purchase a seven-acre property that was the site of the Avondale Pattillo United Methodist Church, Atlanta Business Chronicle first reported.

“This seven-acre campus will become a dynamic, multi-use community space and serve as our new organizational headquarters in the coming years,” according to Wellroot Family Services.

The site at 3260 Covington Highway is near the Kensington MARTA station.

Wellroot Family Services is a faith-centered family services organization. The group, originally called the Decatur Orphans’ Home and then the United Methodist Children’s Home, was founded in 1871.

“With a mission to restore children and families from trauma through Jesus Christ, the Avondale Pattillo campus will play a crucial role in advancing this mission,” the organization said in the announcement.
