PopUp Bagels is preparing to enter the Charlotte area with its first location. Slated to open in late summer, the bagel spot will take a 1,278-square-foot location at 14020 Stream Way at The Bowl at Ballantyne, according to the Charlotte Business Journal.
Power Brands Hospitality Group is the franchise group bringing PopUp Bagels to North Carolina. Eventually, the group plans to open 10 locations in the state, managing partner Deepen Patel told the Business Journal.
Power Brands Hospitality is a family-owned hospitality group based in Alabama. It manages more than 50 restaurants across the Southeast, including brands like Biscuit Belly, Super Chix and Five Guys.
PopUp Bagels got its start as a pandemic passion project in 2020 for founder Adam Goldberg. Since then, the backyard pickup window has expanded to multiple locations, bringing simple, New York-style bagels to customers.
“Our goal is simple: to make you the best, freshest bagels. No frills, plainly perfect: crispy crust and soft crumb center, just the right size and with a perfect proportion of seeds,” the website states.
PopUp Bagels serves a straightforward menu including the everything bagel, sesame bagel, salt bagel, plain bagel and poppyseed bagel. There are also classic schmear options like plain cream cheese and scallion cream cheese, as well as rotating options like pimento cheese and brown sugar cinnamon butter.
The chain has seven locations in New York, four in Connecticut and two in Massachusetts, according to its website. It is continuing to expand in the New York market, as previously reported by What Now New York. Goldberg previously shared with What Now New York that multiple franchise locations are expected to open in markets along the East Coast this year.
What Now Charlotte previously reported that they are expected to head to the Raleigh-Durham area, as well, amid expansion.
