Located in the Marathon gas station at 8282 Sheldon Road in Tampa, Chasqui Flavors offers a selection of Latin foods, particularly salteñas.
“Salteñas have a subtly sweet, tender shell that encases a rich, savory stew filled with meltingly soft potatoes, olives, egg, Andean spices, and, if you ordered it, chicken or beef,” says a description (complete with instructions) on the brand’s website. “First, carefully bite off the top. (It’s okay to nibble for this step if it seems hot.) With the top off, you can start slurping out the broth and gradually eat your way through the pastry down to the more substantial parts of the stew. The subtle sweetness of the pasty and the strong flavors of the savory interior, give salteñas an excellent balance of flavors.”
That’s what you can find in the Marathon on Sheldon Road—but the brand appears to be making moves a little to the southeast, too: Chasqui Bolivia LLC has submitted plan review documents showing a new Chasqui Flavors opening at 6501 W Hillsborough Ave.
As it happens, that address is also home to a Marathon gas station. There, guests would be able to enjoy even more of Chasqui Flavors’ menu of “delicious food such as Sandwiches, Salchipapas, Empanadas, Saltenas, Bolivian authentic plates, and more!”
What Now reached out to Chasqui Flavors owner Cimar Argote to inquire about plans for an opening in the southeastern Town ‘N’ Country area. Argote was not immediately available for comment.
