A fast-casual chain based in New York appears to be expanding with a new location in Downtown Atlanta.
Shah’s Halal Food is planned for 200 Edgewood Avenue NE, according to a building permit application with the City of Atlanta. The restaurant will be about 2,470 square feet and include space for indoor dining, according to the plans. The site is just west of The Municipal Market.
Shah’s Halal Food was established in 2005 with a food cart in Richmond Hill, Queens. It has since grown to more than 90 locations through franchising, mostly on the East Coast. The menu includes rice platters in varieties like chicken, lamb, fish and falafel, as well as gyros, salads, chicken sandwiches, Philly cheesesteaks and more. The concept is known for its fan-favorite signature White Sauce, which combines Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavors.
According to the restaurant website, the brand is 100 percent Halal. Part of their franchise strategy is to seek out neighborhoods that are rich in history.
“Combining the unique flavors of the Middle East with the energy of NYC, we unite people with food by providing a sense of inclusivity and belonging,” according to the website.
The Downtown Atlanta eatery will be the third location in metro Atlanta. Shah’s Halal Food can currently be found in Peachtree Corners at 5450 Peachtree Parkway NW and in Marietta at 2821 Chastain Meadows Parkway NW.
