Golden India offers North Indian cuisine and a weekday lunch buffet. However, a routine health inspection unveiled the negligence at the premises.

What Was Observed During the Inspection?

The inspection took place on April 17, from 2 pm to 3:15 pm, and the inspecting officer found multiple violations at the Golden India restaurant. The inspection report begins by highlighting the absence of a food manager to demonstrate knowledge of basic food handling skills.

The inspecting officer observed an employee handling cone-shaped appetizers with bare hands. Raw shrimp was stored over improperly cooked-down sauces. It was noted that the potato peeler and knife magnet, holding clean knives, need deep cleaning.

The officer found that the sauce containing cooked vegetables read above 41 degrees. It was made the night before and placed in the cooler. The officer educated the staff on proper cooling methods using ice wands, shallow pans, etc. Several cold holding food items stored on shelves were held at room temperature.

The report mentions that there was no date marking system in place, and no labeling of seasonings or sauces was performed. The officer also suggested that the restaurant needs to provide hairnets to the kitchen staff. Walls, floors, vent hoods, filters, grill, and ceilings all need deep cleaning as food and grease splatter were found in all areas.

The TN Department of Health has marked the Golden India restaurant for a re-inspection, but the dates have not been announced. The Department maintains a strict check on all food establishments in the area to ensure that the food safety code is being followed.
