A breakfast restaurant from Mississippi appears to be branching out to Atlanta.
Big Bad Breakfast is planned for 1952 Howell Mill Road NW in suite 200, according to recent construction documents. The space was formerly occupied by a now-closed location of Cultivate Food and Coffee.
Chef John Currence founded the restaurant. Born and raised in New Orleans, Currence always loved breakfast food. After settling in settling in Oxford, Mississippi, he opened his first restaurant, City Grocery. Currence has been nominated several times for a James Beard Award, winning in 2009. He is also the author of several cookbooks.
Big Bad Breakfast opened in 2008, followed by a second location in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2013. Partnering with Fresh Hospitality, the brand has since expanded to several states across the Southeast, mainly in Alabama and Tennessee. Fresh Hospitality’s portfolio includes Atlanta favorites like Mary Mac’s Tea Room and The Vortex.
The planned location on Howell Mill Road NW would be the first in Georgia.
The menu includes breakfast entrees like biscuits, omelets, pancakes and waffles. In addition to the breakfast offerings, the restaurant also serves lunch, like burgers, sandwiches, wraps and salads.
