A new Indian restaurant is coming to Lawrenceville.
A project called Malabar Kitchen is planned for 1414 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, according to a building permit application with Gwinnett County for the “interior build-out of an existing commercial tenant space… to establish a new restaurant.” The space is 1,401 square feet, according to the application.
The scope of work includes the installation of kitchen equipment (hood, sinks, fryer, grill, refrigeration), an updated plumbing and drainage layout, an ADA-compliant restroom, a revised ceiling plan with HVAC coordination, emergency lighting and dining area furniture.
Malabar Kitchen LLC was created in November 2024, according to a filing with the Georgia Secretary of State’s office. The 1414 Lawrenceville Suwanee Road site is listed as the address.
Biju Thankachan is the owner of Malabar Kitchen. Thankachan told What Now Atlanta it’s still too early in the process to have an idea of the opening timeline.
The restaurant will be located at a commercial property anchored by Planet Fitness.
