Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, a polished, upscale-casual American restaurant chain known for its wood-fired steaks, fresh seafood, and signature cocktails, is getting ready to open a new location in Goodyear.
The company, owned by Garnett Station Partners, a New York-based private equity firm that acquired the company in March 2023, has been announced as the newest tenant coming to GSQ, according to a press release. Additional new tenants coming to the Goodyear development include Black Rock Coffee Bar, both slated to open in 2026. Firebirds Wood Fired Grill will open in a 5,658-square-foot standalone building next to Trader Joe’s along McDowell Road in Goodyear.
Known for its signature wood-fired grill experience, Firebirds will offer bold American cuisine, hand-cut steaks, fresh seafood, and an extensive wine list. Guests can enjoy dining indoors or on the 700-square-foot outdoor patio, perfect for al fresco meals. Adjacent to Firebirds, Black Rock Coffee Bar will occupy a 1,460-square-foot drive-thru coffee shop, offering its signature drinks and a strong focus on community. With a scratch kitchen and a commitment to quality ingredients, Firebirds will provide a refined dining experience in a warm, lodge-inspired atmosphere.
Another recent announcement for the shopping center is the addition of Trader Joe’s. RED Development and Globe Corp. announced the next wave of tenants coming to GSQ, the more than 150-acre mixed-use development set to become Goodyear’s cultural hub, including the city’s first Trader Joe’s and a dynamic collection of sought-after dining concepts. Known for its cult-favorite products, unique shopping experience, and neighborhood feel, Trader Joe’s will open in a 13,500-square-foot location at GSQ, marking the arrival of one of the community’s most requested grocers.
“I’m thrilled to lead the opening of Trader Joe’s in Goodyear and to become part of a community that has shown such enthusiastic support,” Chris Warren, store captain at the future Goodyear Trader Joe’s, said in a press release. “This location is a great fit for Trader Joe’s, surrounded by growth, development, and a strong sense of community. We’re excited to bring our unique products and hire more local, friendly crew to serve as Goodyear’s neighborhood grocery store.”
These openings mark a significant milestone in the next phase of GSQ, which is set to become the defining lifestyle destination in the West Valley. Designed to complement the recently completed Goodyear Civic Square—home to a new city hall, two-story library, two-acre park, and office space—GSQ will bring together first-of-its-kind entertainment concepts, high-end and fast-casual restaurants with sprawling patios, specialty retailers, multi-family residential, hotel accommodations, and office space across more than 150 acres.
“We’ve worked closely with Trader Joe’s for years to make this a reality for Goodyear, and we’re proud to see it come to fruition at GSQ,” Mike Ebert, managing partner at RED Development, said in a press release. “This is the kind of project where every tenant contributes to something greater and is a true destination that reflects the community’s energy and momentum. The addition of Trader Joe’s and these renowned restaurants reflects not only the market’s strength, but Goodyear’s vibrant energy and the distinct sense of place we’re creating at GSQ.”
GSQ’s tenant mix continues to evolve with a vibrant blend of culinary destinations, lifestyle offerings, and entertainment experiences. Concepts already open include Bacchus Wine & Debauchery, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, Copper & Sage, F45, Harkins Theatres, Miyu Nails & Spa, Over Easy, Spitz Mediterranean Street Food, The Stillery, Shake Shack and The Yard Milkshake Bar, with High Tide Seafood Bar & Grill coming soon.
