Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii is continuing its growth in Colorado, with plans to launch in the heart of Lakewood’s retail hub. The coffee franchise intends to lease a space within the Belmar shopping district at 7337 W Alaska Dr., Unit 200, the operator confirmed to What Now Denver.

This is the second local store in development for franchisee Beth Deasy, who is also working on a Boulder store (which the publication recently covered). She signed a three-unit agreement, but has plans to expand beyond that, teasing additional sites she is looking at in the northern and southern parts of the metro.

“I do expect to sign the lease by the end of May.  I’m interviewing contractors for both locations now, and if all goes according to plan, I anticipate opening around the winter holiday season to capture all of the fun that Belmar has in the winter!”

She expects to begin construction during the summer and start hiring for leadership and barista positions in the early fall. The space is just under 2,000 square feet and has a great outdoor patio seating area. It is located near the ice skating and roller rink, and will join other new businesses; Belmar has recently posted about Road Runner Sports, DXL Big + Tall, and Club Pilates opening.

“I’m excited to immerse ourselves as part of the community and just bring the spirit of aloha to Colorado and serve a great cup of coffee,” Deasy said.
