Founded by four friends, Lazy Dog Restaurants got its start on the West Coast and has now spread throughout the country. The brand already has locations in Boca Raton and in Orlando, and now it’s preparing to open a third Florida restaurant at 4800 Wiles Road in Coconut Creek, according to coverage by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
“Barbecue bison meat loaf, pot roast beef dips, peanut butter and jelly burgers, teriyaki bowls and St. Louis-style ribs distinguish Lazy Dog’s massive menu of American comfort classics, along with dog-friendly items,” the coverage says.
The Lazy Dog brand places an effort on the a friendly atmosphere and high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, says a statement on the brand’s website by founder Chris Simms.
“I’ve always wanted to find a way to share that small mountain town vibe,” says Simms’s statement. “Inspired by unplanned adventures, an enduring love of food and fireside conversations, Lazy Dog was created to do just that. We have sourced ingredients from places and farmers we love and respect. Each ingredient we use is carefully picked and prepared. We make every meal by hand each day, including all of our sauces, marinades and dressings. We also have a seasonal menu, which is our ode to the current season, and where we celebrate Mother Nature’s beautiful bounty the best way we know how.”
Opening in the Wiles Road location, Lazy Dog joins restaurants like Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant, Bar Louie, and World of Beer.
