The Tustin location of Peter’s Gourmade Burgers, a beloved family-run burger spot, is working to reopen after a car plowed into the building. According to posts from the company, repair efforts are underway at the property, 14311 Newport Ave.

“Thank you for your continued support and patience as we rebuild our Tustin location after the unexpected incident,” the post reads. “While we’ve been cookin’ up goodness in Fullerton, we’re also hard at work bringing Tustin back and better than ever. Reopening date coming soon!”

County News TV reported that a white MINI Cooper lost control and crashed into the eatery, causing extensive damage and leaving the vehicle lodged in the structure. Firefighters had to stabilize the building before removing the vehicle. The shop was closed and no employees were present.

According to Reddit, this is actually not the first time a car has struck the building. One commenter noted that owner John Norman has said delays in city permitting have slowed down the repair process.

Peter’s Gourmade Burgers began inside a gas station before becoming a full-fledged restaurant in 2012. In 2013, the Norman family took over and kept the original recipes. The restaurant prides itself on a homemade, gourmet approach to classic American fare.
