Opened in 1998, the Ugly Dog Saloon & BBQ in the Warehouse District laid claim to being the oldest BBQ restaurant in New Orleans until it closed this past Memorial Day. However, the owner has shifted focus to a new venture by taking over operations of a popular restaurant in Grand Isle called Yum’s Cafe. Jeff Bordelon purchased the Ugly Dog Saloon in May 2014, and it appears he is the one behind the takeover of the Grand Isle restaurant, which is slated to occur in early June.

On June 1, Yum’s Café posted on Facebook that new owners would be taking over in the coming weeks. The Grand Isle restaurant is known for pizzas, Cajun food, mixed drinks, and live music. According to the Facebook post, regular customers should expect regular service to continue under the new management.
