A boutique lounge is coming to Memphis this summer.
Playground Memphis, an adult playground owned by TJ Smith, is opening at 109 N. Main St.
According to Choose 901, the idea stemmed from Smith’s love for house parties and his desire to create a space that sparks nostalgia and deep connections. He wants the lounge to reflect his passions for film, board games and music.
“I want a space that’s themed to make it appealing. It’s something that reflects my personality,” Smith told the outlet.
Guests will enter the lounge by heading down a flight of stairs inside the Claridge House, where they’ll be greeted by a checkered board floor and walls decorated with classic icons like Eddie Murphy, Prince and Rick James.
In the game room, red and yellow couches pay tribute to Connect Four — and guests can actually play the game on the furniture. There will also be chess, Jenga and plans to add arcade games soon.
The goal is to encourage guests to stay present and unplug from their phones.
As for the menu, Playground will offer game-night staples like pizza, hot dogs, popcorn and cheese plates, along with a selection of adult beverages.
While an exact opening date hasn’t been confirmed, Playground Memphis plans to launch in July. Follow along on their website for updates and upcoming events.
