Argentine chef Francis Mallmann will be bringing a new restaurant to New York City this summer. La Boca will open within Faena New York at 500 West 18th St. in Chelsea this summer.
It is expected to open August 3, according to Eater NY.
La Boca will be Mallmann’s “tribute to Buenos Aires’ iconic La Boca,” according to an announcement on Faena New York’s LinkedIn page. It will feature a bold color scheme, art, gold accents and live performances.
While details regarding the menu remain unclear at this time, Faena shared in its announcement that it will center around Mallmann’s signature Argentine cooking style, with emphasis on the plancha. Expect to see seasonal dishes, locally-sourced ingredients and both new and classic dishes.
Mallmann is known for his open-fire cooking. He is behind restaurants across the globe, including Mallmann at Chateau La Coste in France and Los Fuegos, which is located in the Miami location of Faena Hotel. Los Fuegos features a variety of wood-fired dishes, from seafood to beef tenderloin to butternut squash.
Faena New York is expected to open this summer. What Now New York previously reported that it would house other food and beverage concepts, including cocktail bar The Living Room, wine concept La Cava and Japanese dining spot El Secreto.
Faena has other locations in Miami and Buenos Aires.
