Somm Wine Bar is uncorking a new location in Summerville.

The second outpost will be at 420 Cross Park Lane. The original is on James Island at 700 Halcyon Loop.

“We’re building the second one right now,” owner Jordan Hooker told What Now Charleston. “When an opportunity like that comes about, you just kind of got to hop on it real quick and make sure you can get it first.”

Somm will follow the same concept as the original location, duplicating the model on a larger scale and serving a different demographic.

“We are the first and only kind of wine bar up in the Nexton area,” Hooker said. “Somm is just trying to step in and kind of enhance the palette of the local community.”

He said he is most excited for the community to taste hidden gems from less-publicized regions like South America, Chile, Argentina, South Africa, the Canary Islands and Portugal. It will expand beyond popular wines from Napa, California, and Bordeaux, France.

Wine will be available by the glass, in flights and for retail purchase.

The wine will be paired with an assortment of meats, cheeses and small plates. The dessert menu includes a chocolate trio, peanut butter pie, hummingbird cake and various macaroons.

While Somm Wine Bar does not have an exact opening date, it plans to open the Summerville location in August.
