Houston Hot Chicken is bringing the heat to Seattle.
The Nashville-style chicken restaurant will open a location at 101 Denny Way in the Minnie Flats development.
The Seattle shop will be operated by Gurinderjit Sanghera, who signed a five-store deal in the Salt Lake City metro area. The locations will open over a three to four year period, with Seattle being the first.
Chief Operating Officer Matt Rush told What Now Seattle that Sanghera’s family are experienced restaurateurs who own a popular Indian restaurant called Red Fort throughout Salt Lake City.
The grand opening in Seattle will feature a large car show across the street, along with major giveaways.
“We have some presence in Washington already, we have two locations in Spokane,” Rush said. “It’ll serve a very similar menu and we’re still really leaning into the car community, exotic car community.”
The Seattle location will be the brand’s 30th opening, which Rush called a “cool milestone,” having been with the company since before its launch.
“Nashville hot chicken and hot chicken in general is just a craze that’s continued to go on,” Rush said. “I’m just excited to keep pushing out great food.”
The fast-casual chain is known for its award-winning chicken sandwiches, including the Original Hot Chicken, Cheesy Hot Chicken and Classic Chicken Sandwich. The menu also features tenders, nuggets, fries and salads.
Its spice meter ranges from no spice and honey butter to levels called “Lift-off” and “Houston, We Have a Problem.”
Although the official opening date is still to be determined, plans are in place for a mid-September launch.
