Bojangles, the North Carolina-born fast-food chain specializing in chicken, biscuits, and other favorites from Southern cuisine, is making a comeback in Tampa Bay. Plan review paperwork submitted by Bojangles corporate shows a new location opening in Pinellas Park, at 7930 US Hwy 19 N.
Bojangles used to have a presence in Tampa Bay, notes coverage by Creative Loafing Tampa Bay, but that was a generation or two ago. The Pinellas Park location represents the end of an absence felt since the 1980’s.
“Bojangles is a Carolina-born restaurant chain specializing in craveable Southern chicken, biscuits and tea made fresh daily from real recipes, and with a friendly smile,” says the Bojangles website. “Founded in 1977 as a single location in Charlotte, our beloved brand continues to grow nationwide. Our guests are at the forefront of everything we do. In addition to serving up flavorful food, we’re committed to doing good in the communities we serve. Fans from all over know Bojangles for our catchy tagline – ‘It’s Bo Time!’”
A few favorites from Bojangles’ current menu are the Cajun Filet Biscuit Combo, the Sausage Egg & Cheese Biscuit Combo, and the Bacon Egg & Cheese Combo. These are constant crowd pleasers, and there’s a lot more to be had.
The US Highway 19 location is situated near an Ashley furniture store, across the street from Walmart. There Bojangles will compete with fast-food franchises like Wendy’s and McDonald’s.
