It is said you can never have too much of a good thing, and few things in life are better than a quality Italian restaurant. Luckily for DC diners, the next great one is right around the corner and comes from one of the DMV’s top hospitality groups. Balos Restaurant Group is bringing Sorella to the District and it should be ready to serve guests next year, reports the Washington Business Journal.

The brand-new concept will be bringing delicious cuisine and the atmosphere of the Amalfi Coast to an office building at 1800 M St. NW. The 9,247 square foot space will provide seating for up to 200 guests.

Sorella’s debut is still too far out to prognosticate a precise date, however Balos is aiming for a spring of 2026 opening. The hospitality group clearly has confidence in the longevity of the restaurant, having signed a 15-year lease for the space.

Balos has a very refined and specific vision for Sorella. Co-founder Stefanos Vouvoudakis states: “We hail from Manhasset, New York, so we really wanted to bring that Cipollini’s vibe to D.C. Our executive chef has deep roots in Italy, so the menu he is designing is sure to be exquisite.”
