Playa Bowls, the fast-growing New Jersey-based açaí bowl franchise, is riding a wave of growth across Greater Boston, thanks to local franchisees and longtime friends Dana Nentin and Hung Lam.
Hot on the heels of announcing their upcoming Framingham location, the duo has confirmed that a new shop is in the works for North Andover. Slated to open in the fall of 2025, the outpost will be located in the Eaglewood Shops at 137 Turnpike St (Route 114), taking over the space currently occupied by Subway.
Nentin and Lam opened their first Playa Bowls location back in February 2019, launching the venture with a close-knit group of college friends. Since then, they’ve grown their portfolio to a dozen locations, with plans to open an additional 10 across the region. While future sites have not yet been selected, Nentin says they’re excited to continue growing the brand’s footprint throughout Greater Boston.
“We love bringing a fresh, new, healthy food option wherever we go,” she told What Now Boston. “I think there are a lot of communities that don’t have this type of product, and we enjoy bringing it to each of the neighborhoods we go to.”
At the North Andover shop, guests can look forward to all the Playa favorites, from the Nutella Bowl and Matcha Smoothie to the Endless Summer Juice and Playola Cold Brew. Nentin’s personal pick, the Coconut Power Bowl, is a tropical blend of coconut, banana, and vanilla protein topped with blueberry flax granola, banana, coconut flakes, and almond butter.
