Last year, What Now Boston reported that seasoned Playa Bowls franchisee Dana Nentin had signed on to open 10 additional locations across Greater Boston, adding to the 12 she and her business partner Hung Lam already operate. Now, the duo plans to expand even further, with more than 20 total locations in the works throughout the Boston area.
The first of the upcoming Playa Bowls locations is slated to open at 1 Worcester Rd, Unit 521C in Framingham‘s open-air Shoppers World. The eatery will take over a 1,925-square-foot space next to Best Buy. “We’re coming for you Framingham🍍🍍🍍,” the team wrote in a recent Instagram update announcing the news.
Founded in 2014 in Belmar, New Jersey, Playa Bowls has rapidly grown to more than 300 locations nationwide. Nentin told What Now Boston that she and Lam also plan to open a new location in North Andover later this year, which will find its home in the Eaglewood Shops.
The menu at Playa Bowls features a wide selection of customizable smoothies and superfruit bowls—built on bases like açai, pitaya, and coconut—along with cold-pressed juices, coffee drinks, and protein bites.
Once open, the Framingham location will join other health-conscious eateries at Shoppers World, including Sweetgreen and Atlantic Poké. Keep an eye out for updates as Playa Bowls continues its Boston-area expansion.
