Summerfield Tea Bar
- Where: 1722 W 1st St Ste G Santa Ana CA 92703
- When: June 24, 2025
Inspectors found the person in charge was not aware of safe cooking temperatures. All food employees should be sufficiently trained in food safety. The facility failed to produce a valid California Food Handler Card and Food Manager Certificate for review.
As required, a written procedure must be in place for using time instead of temperature to control boba safety. The issue was resolved on-site upon instruction. Dead cockroaches were observed near the storage, under the sink, and under the cooler. The inspector also noted rodent droppings near the cooler, under shelves and storage, as well as behind the ice machine.
The restaurant must immediately remove any and all rodent and cockroach activity using approved methods and clean the affected areas. Chemical spray bottles were found without proper labeling. Wiping cloths were not segregated and stored properly.
Gaps and holes were observed on the wall near the entrance door and behind lockers. There was significant evidence of old food debris and dirt accumulation. The health inspection report was uploaded online.
DonerG Turkish and Mediterranean Grill
- Where: 2139 E Ball Rd, Anaheim, CA 92806
- When: June 24, 2025
The inspector observed accumulated residue on the meat slicer at DonerG Turkish and Mediterranean Grill. The most serious concern during the inspection was the presence of cockroaches in various areas of the facility.
Both dead and live cockroaches were seen under the sink, food prep tables, refrigerator, storage racks, and many others. Numerous fruit flies were observed in the back preparation area.
Containers holding chicken in the refrigerator were found without lids. Multiple meat containers were placed on the floor of the refrigerator. All food items must be kept at least six inches above the floor.
Grime and food residue accumulation were noted across key locations in the facility. The walk-in freezer revealed a heavy build-up of ice. The faucet at the sink had a leak that needed fixing. The ceiling panel above the water heater was missing. The inspection is available online.
Follow-up Inspection
The inspection findings confirmed evidence of rodent and cockroach activity at both establishments, which posed a serious threat to public health. Before requesting reinspection, the restaurants must correct all issues warranting closure.
The report recommends that cockroaches be addressed using approved pest control methods. Sanitize all affected areas to remove pest contamination. Any crevices and cracks allowing potential vermin entry should be fixed.
The permit to operate remains suspended at the food facilities. Following inspection, a closed notification was issued, which means the restaurants should cease all food handling. The establishments may reopen once the department approves them.
