The Whiskey Bear Tavern, a Dungeons & Dragons-inspired bar and eatery, is preparing to open later this year at 4263 Oceanside Boulevard, Suite B107 in Oceanside.

The new concept was created by the husband-and-wife team of Jagger and Vanessa Hansen, according to a recent submission to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. Jagger Hansen tells What Now San Diego that the two plan to open the new concept in late September 2025. Designed to resemble a fantasy-style tavern, The Whiskey Bear Tavern will offer patrons an immersive, game-friendly atmosphere rooted in tabletop role-playing themes. In addition to food and drinks, the space is intended to serve as a gathering spot for those looking to play or experience the Dungeons & Dragons universe in a social setting. The concept grew from a home project Jagger built in his garage and eventually became a shared family passion that inspired the launch of a full-scale business.

“What started as a fun mental getaway turned into a business idea,” the company shared on social media. “Jagger introduced Dungeons & Dragons to our kids, and soon we were all playing together. One night we thought, ‘What if we brought this idea to life and shared it with others?’ Now, we’re creating a place where people can escape the norm, enjoy food and drinks, and play tabletop games in a fantasy environment.”

The tavern will occupy space at Oceanside Marketplace, a 36,241-square-foot shopping center located in the Rancho Del Oro Retail District. The center offers a mix of retail, office, and medical suites with high visibility from Oceanside Boulevard, which sees over 25,000 daily drivers. Current tenants include IHOP, Ding Tea, Ceja’s Mexican Diner, Bon Massage, and Self-Made Training Facility. The property offers convenient access to Interstate 5 and Route 78, and is situated near several major landmarks, including the Oceanside Pier and Camp Pendleton.
