The team behind Cafe Gentile and Gentile Pizza Parlour is opening a new combined location at 3350 Boulevard des Sources in Dollard-des-Ormeaux.
This marks the fourth restaurant concept for the Gentile family, which is known for its longstanding presence in Montreal’s food scene. Founded in 1959 by Sicilian immigrant Ignazio Gentile, Cafe Gentile has grown from a single cafe on Chabanel to a multi-location brand that includes Gentile Pizza Parlour. The upcoming West Island location is set to open in mid-September 2025. It will combine the core elements of Cafe Gentile with the popular pizza parlour, bringing the family’s culinary evolution under one roof. The format features a grab-and-go coffee bar at the front, a full-service dining room and cocktail bar in the center, and a pizza kitchen at the rear.
Owner Anthony Gentile, who currently operates locations in Chabanel, Westmount, and downtown Montreal, tells What Now Montreal that the expansion is both personal and strategic. Raised in the West Island, Gentile and his family have deep roots in the area and saw a gap in the market for Italian family-owned eateries. “This is home,” he told What Now Montreal. “The West Island has really grown in the last five years, and we wanted to be one of the first family-owned Italian eateries in the area.” The move reflects the family’s commitment to staying connected to their community while responsibly growing their brand.
Menu offerings will include staples from both Cafe Gentile and Gentile Pizza Parlour. Guests can expect classic Sicilian dishes such as arancini, eggplant parmigiana, and veal cutlets, alongside specialty pizzas like the Diavola and Margherita. The grab-and-go section will feature fresh sandwiches, salads, and espresso-based drinks. The new location will also introduce a cocktail program, a first for the brand, further reinforcing its evolution into a more comprehensive dining destination.
