Serving Vietnamese comfort food to locals, Wow Pho and Steak was cited for multiple health code violations. Inspectors documented major violations in the restaurant, including a rodent and cockroach infestation. They found both live and dead cockroaches in the restaurant. These were under the drink station food prep table, the walk-in cooler, the food prep sink, and other areas. Rodent droppings were present throughout the floor in the upstairs storage room.

The inspection noted several sanitary violations, including the contamination of food contact surfaces. Inspectors observed knives in the crevice between the exterior of the coolers. The mesh strainer was stored in the kitchen’s hand sink basin.

Grease, grime, and food debris had accumulated in several areas of the facility. The hood filters above the cooking equipment had a lot of grease buildup.

Inspectors also documented several food safety violations. Toxic substances, which are not approved, were stored in the kitchen. The menu included raw sliced beef and sunny-side up eggs. However, the menu did not include a required consumer advisory.

The facility required maintenance in several areas. Inspectors found the toilet rooms and food handling areas lacked enough ventilation and lighting. An accurate thermometer was not available. Multiple gaps and openings throughout the restaurant indicated a need for rodent-proofing. Other violations include the absence of expiration stickers on food items. A detailed health report on Wow Pho and Steak’s recent inspection is available online.

Follow-Up Inspection

Wow Pho and Steak management must fix the issues listed in the inspection report. Once the corrections are made, the restaurant can request a reinspection. Upon clearance, the restaurant can resume normal business operations. The management can request a hearing to oppose the decision within 15 days.
