According to recent reporting in JBJ, a historical property will soon house a new establishment.

The City of Jacksonville has recently issued a building permit for the company Carlton Construction Inc. to build out the Duval Fish House at 4323 Herschel St, within a 2755-square-foot space in the 63-year-old building.

Duval County property records show that the structure was a Fairfax neighborhood gas station built in 1962 at the northeast corner of Herschel Street and San Juan Avenue.

Today, the property is owned by San Juan Corner LLC, which is led by John and Margaret Williams.

Rodulfo Quinones and Wyatt Griesemer, who run the Eat Happy Jax Food Truck, will run the upcoming establishment.

Documents cited by The Business Journal delineate at least “80 seats inside plus bar seating and at least 12 patio seats.”

Coloring the description, project architect Dasher Hurst says Duval Fish House will be a fusion of an “elegant” mid-century modern design and a relaxed, deep blue atmosphere “inspired by vintage boats and nautical themes.”

“The space offers a perfect balance between honoring the history of the gas station and introducing a fresh, contemporary twist suited to a dynamic, coastal city,” the firm said.

No opening date has been announced.
