Whataburger has a new location heading to the Triad region. It will open this fall at 10118 N Main St. in Archdale, according to a release.
This will be one of 10 locations opening in North Carolina this year. A spot in Gastonia that opened in May kicked off the chain’s plans for the state, marking Whataburger’s 17th state.
Whataburger launched as a small burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1950. The chain, known for its classic fast-casual American fare, has north of 1,100 locations, spanning 17 states. It has been in expansion mode, especially in North Carolina. It announced plans for expansion in the summer in the Charlotte area. It also announced plans for Triad locations, including one expected to open in late summer in Winston-Salem and one opening this fall in High Point.
“For 75 years, Whataburger has grown from a single burger stand into a brand folks love across the country — but our heart has always stayed right where it belongs: in local communities just like Gastonia,” Debbie Stroud, Whataburger president and chief executive officer, said in the release in May. “As someone who lived for years in North Carolina, finally opening our doors here feels like coming home. We’re excited to start making memories together — first bites, first jobs, first dates — and to deliver the Whataburger experience that keeps fans coming back: hot, fresh and made Just Like You Like It.”
