On June 26, the officials of the Southern Nevada Health District issued 38 demerit points to Mezzo Bistro & Wine. This was due to the nature of health violations observed at the Italian food establishment.
Inspection Findings
The on-site inspectors noted a lack of adequate refrigeration at Mezzo Bistro & Wine during their inspection. They further reported the bare-hand contact with food items at the Las Vegas establishment. The SNHD officials added the instances of potential food contamination.
TCS food items were not kept at proper temperatures, as advised by the SNHD. Mezzo Bistro & Wine’s food equipment showed a lack of maintenance.
The food inspectors observed that the food contact surfaces at the Italian food facility were not cleaned and sanitized. They suggested the bistro representatives follow effective pest control measures.
The SNHD inspectors ordered Mezzo Bistro& Wine’s staff that the person in charge should be present during the inspection. Plus, the PIC should demonstrate knowledge of imperative health procedures. The on-site inspectors asked the bistro officials to have employee health policies and food handlers’ cards.
