According to recent reporting, Virentes Hospitality–franchisee of Shipley Donuts–is ready to grow its Jacksonville footprint.

Reportedly, the hospitality group plans to open a total of 22 more stores — 16 in the state and six more in Jacksonville.

The article adds that Virentes “already has folks operating in the Jacksonville market, so the group is familiar with the area’s continued population growth.”

To Virentes Vice President of Operations Andrew Povec, the consumer-focused demographic fits “very well for what a Shipley can do.”

“There’s a lot of real estate that’s very attractive to us in this area. There’s growth everywhere you go in Jacksonville, we know the market fairly well, and we think it’s a little underserved as far as high-end doughnut and kolache breakfast offerings,” Povec said to the JBJ.

Povec clarifies that he could go from Clay County into Nassau.

“We’ll go all the way up to Yulee. We’ll go wherever the opportunity presents itself. We’ll go downtown if we get the opportunity,” Povec said.
