Proving that there is no end to the good a great cup of coffee can do, a cafe with a conscience is preparing to bring quality java and a heaping dose of kindness to DC. Skyler Kelley is opening a new location of her cafe Brij Coffee in DC, and bringing along her passion for helping the local community, reports local media outlet ARLNow.

Kelley recently shut down Brij’s inaugural home in Arlington. However, the civically minded entrepreneur is far from finished. Kelley will be launching Brij’s second act in Mount Vernon Square at 1123 9th Street NW. A precise opening date is not yet available, but Kellley anticipates serving up superior coffee later this summer.

Brij is, of course, committed to providing great cups of joe to the community, but that’s just the beginning for the socially conscious cafe. Kelley has turned the cafe into a way of helping her neighbors. The Brij website offers this insight: “True to our name, Brij was envisioned as a haven, connector, and support network by our founder Skyler Kelley, who reinvests a portion of earnings in the community through nonprofits that help our neighbors in need. Drawing on her lived experience as an unhoused single mother, Skyler founded Brij with a vision to eradicate homelessness and bridge gaps among the District’s richly diverse community.”
