Moe’s Southwest Grill, the Atlanta-based fast-casual chain known for its bold burritos and free chips and salsa, is continuing its expansion across Arizona with a new location planned for Cannon Beach in Mesa.
The upcoming Moe’s will join the wave of new restaurant and entertainment concepts heading to Cannon Beach, a destination surf park and lifestyle development that’s quickly becoming a hub for dining, shopping, and recreation in the East Valley, according to intel received by What Now. The new Moe’s will likely operate as part of a multi-location franchise deal led by Arizona-based father and son duo Tony and Namit Mangat, who are spearheading the brand’s return to the state. An official opening date for the Cannon Beach Moe’s has not yet been announced.
The Mangats’ first Moe’s Southwest Grill location at Pebble Creek Marketplace in Goodyear is already open. On May 16, the second Arizona location opened in Peoria at Lake Pleasant Crossing Shopping Center, marking a key step in their plan to launch ten Moe’s restaurants across the state. In addition to Goodyear and the newly announced Cannon Beach spot, other potential locations include Mesa, Buckeye, Glendale, and Tempe.
Cannon Beach is already home to a growing list of eateries and attractions, including Moku Hawaiian Grill, The Fresh Monkee Smoothies, Hooligan’s Coffee House, and Russo’s Italian Kitchen, with more than 20 additional tenants set to open throughout 2025. The surf park and mixed-use development has quickly become one of the most talked-about projects in Mesa, blending action sports, entertainment, and a curated food scene into one dynamic experience.
The Mangats, who have a background in commercial real estate, construction, and logistics, signed on to develop five Moe’s Southwest Grill locations across the Valley in partnership with GoTo Foods, the parent company behind Moe’s, Cinnabon, Auntie Anne’s, Jamba, Schlotzsky’s, and McAlister’s Deli.
As the brand continues its re-entry into the Arizona market after closing local locations in the 2010s, Moe’s is positioning itself as a key player in the region’s fast-casual dining space. Each new Moe’s will bring its signature menu of customizable burritos, bowls, quesadillas, stacks, and tacos, plus the brand’s signature “Welcome to Moe’s!” greeting that has become a staple of the guest experience.
With Cannon Beach attracting both local families and adventure-seekers alike, the addition of Moe’s Southwest Grill is expected to enhance the development’s appeal as a go-to destination for all things food and fun.
