Pho Hà Nội, an acclaimed Vietnamese restaurant chain from NorCal, is expanding to Southern California with a new location underway in Fountain Valley. The forthcoming restaurant is expected to open at 18380 Brookhurst St., according to liquor licensing records.
The liquor license, filed under the entity Hanoi Bistro, was applied for in late June and is currently listed as pending. Co-owner Helen Nguyen, who runs the business with her husband Harry, told What Now OC the property is currently under renovation and expected to open by the end of September.
They first launched the concept in 2016 at San Jose’s Vietnam Town, the SF Chronicle writes. The brand quickly grew in popularity, winning the Best of Silicon Valley Readers’ Choice Award in 2021 and expanding to four additional Bay Area locations: Fremont, Milpitas, Palo Alto, and Cupertino.
This new Fountain Valley location will mark Pho Hà Nội’s first entry into the southern part of the state, bringing its signature 24-hour bone broth pho to a new area. Vietnam Net reports the chain sells upwards of 3,000 bowls of pho a day and makes more than $1.4 million a month.
