Dunkin’ is preparing to open a new location in Thornton, with the debut expected early next year. The franchisee operator for the unit, Gilligan Company, recently confirmed the plans to What Now Denver, but an address has not been disclosed.
Gilligan Company, an Ohio-based multi-unit ownership group that earned the title of Dunkin’s Franchisee of the Year for 2024, has been working on the Colorado market lately. The company also operates locations in Fort Collins and Westminster, and it’s also working on a Wheat Ridge store. The company said the Thornton store will open in January.
A spokesperson told the publication the franchisee “will be opening up several of these in the market. They chose the Denver market due to the fact that it’s a strong market for coffee, very community-oriented, and all of this aligns with our goals.”
Founded in 1993 by Patrick Gilligan, The Gilligan Company operates more than 90 locations across multiple brands, including Dunkin’, Popeyes, Shell, and Subway. Its growth model includes both company-owned stores and wholesale services through its fuel and retail divisions under Gilligan Oil Services, its website explains.
