The restaurant is located on Lake Travis and offers bistro-style dining. However, Sundancer Grill LLC was cited for multiple health violations in a routine inspection on Tuesday. Based on the nature of violations, it was offered a score of 70.
According to the report, paper towels were missing at the handwashing sink near the soda machine. The tuna and salmon at Sundancer Grill were completely thawed in reduced oxygen packaging. Containers with uncovered food items were found in reach-in coolers. Food contact surfaces, cutting boards, and food can openers were dirty.
Raw salmon, chicken, and shrimp were stored above the required temperature of 41°F. Several food items at Sundancer Grill had outdated labels. Unlabeled spray bottles were found at the lakeside American restaurant.
Inspectors observed flies in the kitchen area. Bulk food containers had in-use scoops and utensils without handles. The knife handle was touching the cheesecake in the cooler at Sundancer Grill. Clean knives were stored in slits in between prep cooler equipment and were exposed to dust.
Cardboard and wooden blocks were used for lining the flooring and floor support at the lakeside food facility. The establishment was using cutting boards and blocks that could not be properly cleaned or sanitized. Sundancer Grill’s lowboy refrigerator was not cooling items efficiently.
Dirt buildup was reported on kitchen fans and debris on kitchen shelving under the microwave and on kitchen walls. A leak was observed under the kitchen sink on the cook line.
Follow-up Inspection
According to the inspection report, Austin Public Health will return to Sundancer Grill LLC for a re-inspection on August 19.
